I have started drinking a lot of the electrolyzed water as part of my new program of weight loss and tendinitis treatment. Well, I was getting pretty bored of drinking so much plain water so I decided to experiment with making electrolyzed Ice Tea.

I started with taking one quart jar filling it with bottled water and one tea bag. I put it in the sun for one day and then electrolyze it. I have a seperate air stone I use just for Ice Tea. Sometimes I have to clean it with a little vinegar to make it bubble good again. I then add 1 tea spoon of fresh lime juice and one packet of splenda. Tastes great.

Follow up. I noticed some clear slime growing in the jar after two or three days. My wife says that it is normal. That you should drink the tea fresh and not store it long. It is the first time I ever noticed it. Does anyone else now about that happening to tea?

I don't know about the slime, but my husband used to leave his tea on the counter.  After about a day, it would develop what looked like oil slicks on the top.  Stopped when he started refrigerating it immediately after brewing and mixing.

My wife drinks a lot of tea. She only drinks fresh brewed tea and can tell when it is going bad. I have no idea how she does it but she can tell. I just asked her about the slime issue and she said that is normal. If you brew it on one day, you should drink it by the next day and put it in the fridge right away. Fresh tea does not last that long and should be use right away. Also make sure to completely clean out the pitcher before you put or make tea using the same pitcher. Hope this helps.

wow, I would like to thank likedoit and Bonnie for their comments. This is the first time I have used a forum. And getting back information from interested people is just to cool I will try to electrolyze the water before I make the tea and then try another batch electrolyzing the evening after it sits in the sun and refrigerate immediately. In the past I noticed that the tea tasted kind of sweet after sitting for a day without adding the Splenda. But, I had not become aware of the slime yet. I can filter the slime out with a paper towel. It has the consistency of clear jello with tiny specks of brown I assume tea. Kind of like what in the electrolyzer jar only it is reddish.

astrodaddy,

I assure you that in drinking the water I continue to derive benefits, but I started this thread to try to make a drink "ice tea" without destroying the benefits of drinking the plain water because it can get a little boring drinking so much plain water. Also, there is so much to learn about this new technology including how car engines work... I find it nice to have a place to go that is more no brainer like making a good cup of tea. I will post more on the benefits in my other thread on tendinitis.

You are negating any benefits of drinking this special ice tea by using SPLENDA. Splenda metabalizes into toxic chemicals in your body...Its a scientists creation in the lab to save calories. Too bad it does not save lives!!!

Kmanklaus,

Can you please tell me how I can verify your statement about Splenda! I started using Splenda in a weight reduction program hosted by the Veteran's Administration. I use a lot of Splenda! So, your information is kind of scary. Do you have a suggestion on what to use for a sweetener?

UB1,
I agree with KMANKLAUS, about the Splenda. It is an artificial sweetener created in the lab. There is a website by Dr. Joseph Mercola called www.sweetdeception.com that talks about the dangers of artificial sweeteners, especially Splenda. I guess by now you know about aspartame, too. That stuff is really nasty. There is a website called www.dorway.com that will inform you about that, as well. Aspartame was a drug invented by the GD Searle pharmaceutical company and got it pushed through the FDA when Ronald Reagan was starting his presidency. It just so happens that Donald Rumsfeld was the CEO of Searle at the time and he and the company have both been sued for negative effects of the drug on the human organism. As a matter of fact, the symptoms caused by the use of aspartame are called "Rumsfeld's Disease" in Europe, where it has been banned.
An alternative to Splenda can be found in a natural sweetener called STEVIA, which is an herb. I don't like the way it tastes, so I use organic cane sugar instead or organic cane molasses. Organic maple syrup works great on some things, too.
(Maybe this should be posted in Conspiracy Theories!)
Good Health,
gasjar

Gas jar

Thank you for your last post.  Very informative. My wife has some sugar cane growing around the ponds.  We have two honey hives and I have a bottle of maple syrup in the cupboard. Guess I better quit neglecting the bee hives.  Will stop the Splenda asap...  I changed to honey in the coffee this morning.  Will try maple syrup on the next cup of coffee. Thanks again.
