Ok, well I looked up the law referenced in the link above, which is section 203 of the Clean Air Act, and found this farther down:
"No action with respect to any device or element of design referred to in
paragraph (3) shall be treated as a prohibited act under that
paragraph if the action is for the purpose of a conversion of a
motor vehicle for use of a clean alternative fuel (as defined in
this title) and if such vehicle complies with the applicable
standard under section 202 when operating on such fuel, and if in
the case of a clean alternative fuel vehicle (as defined by rule
by the Administrator), the device or element is replaced upon
completion of the conversion procedure and such action results in
proper functioning of the device or element when the motor
vehicle operates on conventional fuel."
So, since hydrogen qualifies as a clean alternative fuel, I believe that we are free and clear. The part where it talks about section 202 I believe is referring to the normal emissions standards for that vehicle type. Also, I'm not sure what it means by a "clean alternative fuel vehicle (as defined by rule by the Administrator)". I couldn't find any reference to that, but I believe if you were concerned about this, you could simply rig up a switch to turn off H.H.O. production and bypass any sensor "enhancers" you have in line.
I'm glad to see that there does seem to be some legal validation for water4gas users. I know I for one would much rather be able to show someone in the law how this is legal rather than saying, "I don't know if it is illegal, and I don't really care. The law is unfair, and therefore I don't believe it should apply to me." To me, that seems like a slippery slope to using that same argument towards other "illegal" activities.
I genuinely hope I have not rubbed anyone the wrong way. I think it is a benefit to the water4gas community to reach a definitive understanding of where we stand legally. If anyone has any other legal advice on this subject, feel free to share.
By the way, the links for section 203 (quoted above) and section 202 are:

Thanks for the info. I will bookmark it and may even carry a copy of it when I get my inspection this year. I think that Ozzie should include a legal section in the books, too, just in case.
I agree with what we37 said about the Fully Informed Jury Association and jury nullification, we should all know the laws so we can change the bad ones when they come to trial and WE are the jurors. Otherwise, we will continue to be subjected to unfair and unjust laws all in the name of "the Common Good".
(During the Civil War, when the laws on harboring runaway slaves were still on the books, the JURIES would overturn the LAWS and declare them unjust. When this happened with great regularity, the laws were eventually repealed!)
So get active, and get involved. This is OUR COUNTRY, and OUR WORLD.
Like the old country song goes, "If you don't stand for SOMETHING, you'll fall for ANYTHING!'

| Legal or Illegal, that is the question. In my humble opinion, only about 25% of Laws are usefull for the average citizen. Of course we need some laws otherwise the whole system would collapse. However how many laws has the "Average Joe" made. Answer none. Most laws are made in order to control us, and for the benefit of politicians and the state and in the interests of large corporations. You can bet your bottom dollar that when we are all succesfull and running all our vehicles on 95% water they will soon bring out a new law to make it illegal. Anyway, I love the idea and thank goodness we have people like Ozzie who made it possible for us to get all the information on Water4Gas sustems. Thanks also, to so many people here on the forum who are always happy to help with advice and encouragement. Thanks everyone.

| Here's a thought! If it were truly illegal to modify the devices, how do the OBD programmers get away with it. There are programmers readily sold that will change the way the devices operate. Some want higher performance some want better fuel economy. What's the difference introducing an alternate fuel source and modifying the devices to respond correctly to the fuel source.

| Hi there, if it is deed illiegal than how do you explain the $1000 rebate you get from your govenment?? I am from Australia and we unfortunatly arent as fortunate as you guys in the U.S to get this rebate. So on that basis alone I dont think you have anything to worry about. And as for the rest of us who dont live in the u.s you just need to "man up" and do it!! Cause guess what there is no one who can save you but your self, our govrments dont have a plan on how to save us or our planet. And whats more they dont care!! So who cares what they think or say we have to stand up and take back our dignity and show some backbone!! I have put this in my 96 explorer and everything worked amasingly well....except for the gas consumption having massive probs with that, but i will not give up...and as soon as I got it worked out I'm gonna sell these things as fast and hard as i can. Because I belive the faster they get out there the more powerless those politions will have to say anything in stopping it. Peace all

Wow, how lucky I am to be associated with such intelligent people. I was amazed to see the responses that were well written and thorough. I hope this information is archived and continuously updated. I have been talking with others about this movement and legality has come up several times. Thanks for hitting the topic head on.
