Hi,

I had this installed on my 2000 GMC Jimmy. The first tank I tested on freeway only and went from 13 MPG to 26 MPG. The second tank I created worst case scenario, driving through city with a/c on and lots of idling - still got 18 MPG - a 40% improvement. Also noticed performance improvement which was a surprise - I didn't think I'd notice anything like that. Idles much quieter and smoother too. Totally ecstatic!

Great Pattie.  Did you do anything different than just the HOD device?  I have them installed on 2 vehicles and see no difference.  What's up with that?

Why thank you Fewwdragon!

Doug - I have an electrolizer, a PCV enhancer and tinfoil on both oxygen sensors - but nothing more than that because I wanted to give the system a fair test.

But I do have to admit that today I was frustrated that my MPG this last tank wasn't quite what it was the first week - and since I finally quit racing it around (I was pretty excited about the performance improvement and went a little nuts for a few days....)  I was disappointed that it didn't come back to what it was the first week.  So, out of disappointment I added an additional 1/4 teaspoon baking soda when I refilled the container with the distilled water (which made a total of 3/4 teaspoon baking soda with 2 quarts of water) hoping that would improve things, and it broke the glass inside the canister - please note this is not a mason jar - mason jars can withstand a lot of heat - this is a canister type of thing that I bought from a guy at Ozzie's get-together.  I was able to find a replacement canister to get my system back up and running thank goodness - I would hate to lose it now!  I have a post in another area on this forum looking for advice with a picture of the system if you wanted to see it.  I think I might have a leak where one of the hoses connects to the cannister which I will address tomorrow, but waiting to hear from the experts if double the wire and double the water means half the baking soda or if the canister idea is simply a bad idea because the glass might not be tempered or something like that.......

My SO has a system installed on his SUV that is a coffee thermos thing - very compact and nice looking but he found it a little interesting to refill - he's worried that his mother might not have an easy time with that particular setup.  He is seeing 30% improvement with his vehicle and very excited about his performance too.  He had smog check and it had almost zero emissions (smog test guy would have failed the car though because he did not have a sticker from California Air Board clearing this system for use - next item on the agenda is how to address that).  His installer used the brake vacuum line, he said because it was the best vacuum on the vehicle.  His system also did not use a second hose to go into the air cleaner line like mine has.

Do you have two hoses or just one?  Where did you have it hook into?  How much baking soda are you using?

Thanks Pattie.  I built the device with 2 hoses but have one of them plugged off.  I spliced in the other to 1 of the 2 lines on the top front of the engine.  Really an easy install.  It seems to pull plenty of vacuum indicated by seeing how much the plastic lid is sucked down while the engine is running.  I started out by using 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda per quart with no apparent results then upped it to 3/4 teaspoon.  I adjusted the bubbler almost shut so I can count the bubbles being released in the solution.  Haven't had a heat problem.  I tried it using a lot of bubbling action which heated up the jar noticeably--way to hot to the touch.  The water turns yellow so I guess the unit is doing what it is supposed to do, however it hasn't produced any noticeable improvement.  I haven't tried anything else yet wanting to see if I was on the right track b/4 I tried anything else.  I'm thinking that my car's computer system is outsmarting the HOD.  I'm stymied!  Any ideas.......anybody?

I would say you are correct about your computer stopping the gains. I think I am currently having the same problem. Currently awaiting a MAP sensor enhancer to try.
