I am wondering if there any members near Atlanta who would be interested in collaborating to get the word out?

Cool,

I also have an f150 2001, I dont pull any trailers tho. Not often anyway. Lets stay in touch as you build I have been building mine as well. I am waiting for tops too. There are a few things to consider. The jar must be airtight and guys are using teflon tape on the threads of the jar. I think that the teflon should be the yellow kind that we use for gas pipe. Its thicker than the white teflon and I would guess that it is better for the seal problem. I would like to see some pics of your project I will send you some of mine as well. I just got the 316L wire and am looking forward to the weekend so I can work on this project.

Stay in touch

If you're walmart still has the lids you better grab them before they take them out of the stock rotation. I live in rural community of Pa. and they took them off the shelf last month, the height of canning season. I have to pay $3.99 for a pack of 8 at a local hardware store. Walmart I believe was only 2.88 for the same amount. Fortunately for me, the hardware's warehouse has 140 cases of them delivered 2 weeks ago...

WE37, I had forgotten about your PM. I'll look back into that... I too have been having problems with it sealing. It works pretty good when I have it on a vacuum hose, but if it's going into my airfilter box or when I'm tinkering in my shop, I can't seem to get a good seal...

Ps. I did try putting lard on the threads of the jar... Don't recommend that unless you never intend on removing the lid or you have very strong hands. I had to use a oil filter wrench and another set of hands on the jar. But, what a seal it made.

PSS. Which brings to mind, don't they sell lid closers that attach like an oil filter wrench when sealing canning lids. I mean they're hot then, you wouldn't want to be touching them with bare hands.
